Cochin Shipyards Limited has launched "ATAL" the second in the series of two 1200 Pax passenger vessels

Cochin Shipyards Limited (CSL) Limited has launched ‘ATAL’ the second in the series of two 1200 Pax passenger vessels for the Andaman & Nicobar Administration from its Kochi Shipbuilding Yard.

The newbuild vessel is designed as a modern high technology and quality passenger vessel with electric propulsion system, suitable for carrying 1,200 passengers and carrying 1000-ton cargo for operation on the mainland and Andaman & Nicobar route as stated by Cochin Shipyards Limited.

The ship was launched by Smt. Rameetha K, Scientist ‘G’ at NPOL ( DRDO), in presence of Shri Madhu Nair, CMD of Cochin Shipyards Limited.

The newbuild is of highest standards of the Indian Register of Shipping and Lloyds Register of Shipping and meets the requirements of “Class III Special Trade Passenger Ship” as per Indian Merchant Shipping rules.
